Silchar Police arrest second accused in eight-yr-old's murder case

SILCHAR: Silchar Police on Saturday arrested a second accused in connection with the brutal murder of an eight-year-old boy in Silchar. On the basis of an FIR filed by the father of the deceased, Ayan Manjur Barbhuiya, the police arrested accused Sajib Uddin Majumdar from Salchapra in Cachar.
While Sajib is being interrogated under the custody of Silchar Sadar police station, three other accused are still absconding, a senior police officer said.The police had earlier arrested one Apu Majumdar in connection with Ayan's murder on March 11. The eight-year-old was stabbed to death, with a sharp weapon, over a suspected land dispute, in Silchar's Water Works Road.
Locals said the father of the prime accused, Apu, Alauddin Majumdar, was involved in a land dispute with Ayan's father Monjurul Barbhuiya. A number of social organisations, over the past week, have taken out protest marches across Barak Valley, demanding immediate arrest of the killers.
